Omega Tissue DNA Min-Kits and EZ-96 plate Kits are designed to provide a rapid and easy method for isolating animal genomic DNA from cells or tissues for consistent PCR and Southern analyses. This method can also be used for preparation of genomic DNA from mouse tail snips, blood, buffy coat, serum, plasma, and cultured cells. A separate protocol is available for bacteria. Downstream applications include PCR, Southern blotting, restriction digestion, and others.

Yield and Preparation Time Information: Up to 30mg of tissue can be processed with Mini EZ-SpinKits with a typical yield of 100µl of genomic DNA (binding up to 60 kb) in less than 20 minutes. The high throughput EZ-96 plate Kit processes up to 30mg of tissue or 0.6cm of mouse tail in a 96-well format in less than 2 hours. The newly desinged EZ-96 plate will eliminate polysaccharides, phenolic compounds, and enzyme inhibitors from tissue layers and has a binding capacity of 100µg of purified genomic DNA.

EZ-SpinKits are supplied with or without OMP Protease, a proprietary blend of proteinases for optimal protein degration and DNA purification and superior to standard nuclease-free Proteinase K. Note, those kits without OMP Protease will require Proteinase K; see listed.

Omega EZ-SpinKits and 96-well formatted EZ-96 plate Kits are designed for the rapid and efficient purification of genomic DNA, viral DNA, and total cellular DNA (including viral DNA) from bacteria, yeast, animal or plant cells, and tissues. Resulting purified DNA is free of contamination that commonly inhibits downstream applications, such as amplification and Southern analyses. Principally, the HighBind (silica-based) resin matrix in our Omega EZ SpinKits (spin-columns) and EZ-96 plate Kits (96-well plates) and the specialized reagent technology selectively binds and effectively lyses the sample of interest. RNA is enzymatically degraded to prevent its co-purification with DNA. Fast, easy and reliable, the lysate is passed through the HighBind spin column or plate. The DNA is specifically and reversibly adsorbed. Rapid and efficient washes remove contaminating salts and proteins. The pure DNA is then eluted into low ionic strength buffer or deionized water. Most of these isolations can be performed in less than an hour. Note, hazardous and time consuming phenol/chloroform extractions are not necessary with our Omega protocols.

Three Column Designs for Mini EZ-SpinKits
1.) Q-Spin Columns, our original spin column designed for centrifugation protocols, feature a large capacity reservoir above the HighBind DNA resin and a flat bottom. This allows for a larger volume of sample to be processed in the column at one time with better flow-through during centrifugation. Expect higher yields with Q-spins.
2.) V-Spin Columns are equipped with a standard outlet luer at its bottom for an easy to use and leak-free connection to vacuum manifolds or luer hub needles. V-Spin Columns can be used with centrifugation and/or vacuum manifold protocols.
3.) S-Spin Columns are designed like Q-Spins, includes an attached cap.

d EZ-96 plate Kit isolation components are guaranteed for at least 12 months from the date of purchase, when stored as recommended in supplied instruction manuals.
